Progress Report: Sept. 25 – Oct. 1

It’s been far too long since I posted one of these. I’m going to get back into it for sure. To be consistent, I am going to upload the progress report every Thursday! Feel free to call me out if I don’t!

10-05-17 Fitbit Data


Since you didn’t get to see what I did last week, my stats don’t really mean much, huh? Instead of the regular information, I’ll just list a few things that have changed since I last posted a report:

  1. I got married! (August 8) This event seemed to be the point where I slowed down on my blog.
  2. I started Fall term at school, giving me more incentive to walk again.
  3. I got a new bed, giving me ultimately better sleep.
  4. …I gained 9 pounds. Probably more in body fat because I haven’t been to the gym. Any muscle gain is probably gone.

So basically, I have a lot of work to do. This would be the second time I stopped right at 300 lbs. This time around, I am determined to break that barrier, and be the best I can be.



  1. Jacob…thanks for keeping up with my blog. I’ve read all your posts. Congrats on your marriage. Good luck to both of you. My wife and I have been together for more than 25 years. A marriage takes a lot of hard work.
    It’s interesting reading your blogs how different our bodies seem to be. You don’t look to me like you have a size 50 waist. Am I remembering that correctly? I’m 6’1″ and had a waist of about 52 when I was 390. I’m down a little lately but still wearing those jeans.
    I can tell you my thoughts about what I’ve seen from you in your blogs but to be honest it doesn’t feel right sharing my opinions. I am nobody to be giving advice about diet, weight, exercise, or anything in that arena. I’ll share nonetheless but certainly want to make sure you know I don’t know anything. =)
    I’d be more interesting in hearing about what you are actually eating as compared to what you aren’t eating. I’ve heard it said that this whole losing weight idea is 80% diet and 20% exercise. I’m betting it’s even more on diet than that. So while looking at your activity stats is cool, it doesn’t mean much because I don’t have any perspective on what you’re eating compared to your activity.
    So you’re hovering around 300 pounds? Let me tell you, if I ever see 300 pounds again, I’ll be so happy I won’t be able to believe it. It’s absolutely a goal of mine to see that on the scale again in my lifetime.
    I look forward to hearing more about your progress. I know life events took your focus away but it’s great that you’re back to it. That’s what matters, you’re trying. I’m happy to chime in with my uneducated opinions as long as you can stand them and you feel free to do the same. I enjoy any feedback.


    1. When I measure my waist, I measure just below the belly button, as you’re supposed to do. I actually wear a size 40-42 waist pant. I thank you for taking the time to read up on my blog.

      In response to the diet/fitness thing, I agree completely! That is why I posted about the 5210 plan that my doctor recommended. Since it is still a new program, you won’t get to read about my progress with it until my progress report on Thursday!

      Also, don’t say “if I ever see 300 pounds again,” I think you mean “when.” ๐Ÿ˜›
